My New Year’s Resolutions

2011 was a remarkable year, because my job of 28 years came to an end.  I prepared for it the best I could, but when I was finally terminated, I felt really alone.  And scared.  The plans I had made seemed worthless.

I came to realize that it was a huge area in my life that my dependency and trust was still greatly in myself and not God.  I’ll spare you the details of the battle, but here is what is working for me.

  1. I say to myself everyday: “I will not doubt God”, because when I worry, that’s what I’m really doing.
  2. I forbid myself to think any farther in the future than what I had to do in this week.  I take care of business that is mine.
  3. I count talents I’ve been given and blessings I receive.

So my New Year’s resolutions are:

  • I’ll use my IT skills to share my testimony with you.
  • I won’t be afraid to do it.
  • I’ll follow my mission statement

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to you.  Today’s not the “birthday”, as many church signs proclaim, but rather the conception.  It’s celebrated by “us” because despite many efforts to the contrary, the blood line was not broken, the scriptures are fulfilled, and the victory is assured.

We’re really in the “victory offense” – hold on to the ball and run the clock out.  Amen.

Well, we didn’t win…

I can’t help but feel disappointed in the losses we have suffered as of late.  I watched it on TV without the radio, (since it is no longer “The Georgia Bulldog Radio Network”), and the obvious bias towards…I don’t want to defame LSU…”the National Favorite” was sickening.

But, I’m still proud to be a Georgia Bulldog.  And though I’m disappointed, I’m not discouraged.

And I leave you with something to build you up, from Tozer:

The root of all evil in human nature is the corruption of the will. The thoughts and intents of the heart are wrong and as a consequence the whole life is wrong. Repentance is primarily a change of moral purpose, a sudden and often violent reversal of the soul’s direction. The prodigal son took his first step upward from the pigsty when he said, “I will arise and go to my father.” As he had once willed to leave his father’s house, now he willed to return. His subsequent action proved his expressed purpose to be sincere. He did return.

Be Strong/Go Dawgs,

Mike
